World Missions Offering 2025

The Prophet Isaiah had some challenging things to say to his listeners in ancient Israel. But in Isaiah 43, he takes a softer and more encouraging tone. He paints a picture of what God is doing and what he is about to do. In verse 19, he says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

God is doing a new thing; the question for them and us is simple: Do you see it? Are you tuned in to what God is doing? That is the question we will be wrestling with over the next few weeks during our World Mission Offering Campaign.

Today, billions in the world still haven’t heard about Jesus, and thousands of people groups remain unreached. Like Isaiah’s message, the Gospel is Good News, but it needs to be shared. The gospel message is too precious to keep to ourselves or within the walls of the church. We must reach one more here, there, and everywhere. Our church needs to be known for its generosity, sacrifice, and commitment to missions. It’s not about sending leftovers but our best gifts to share the Good News.

The New Testament doesn’t prescribe a specific percentage for giving but emphasizes generosity, joy, and sacrifice. The joy of giving, the joy of sharing the Good News, is a fundamental part of our Christian faith. As Christians, we’re called to be generous, joyful, and sacrificial givers.  FBC is called to live out these principles, and this Fall, we have a call to action for those who call FBC home: to be generous, joyful, and sacrificial in sharing the gospel—here, there, and everywhere.

Through International Ministries, American Baptist churches nationwide support the projects and programs of over 50 global servants and consultants in over 20 countries across five continents by giving to the World Mission Offering (WMO). This annual offering brings God's word to the unreached, builds up believers, equips church leaders, and supports programs that advance justice, peace, and prosperity.

This year's stories from Thailand include those serving at the Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Bible School and College (KKBBSC) located in Mae La Refugee Camp near Mae Sot, Thailand. Here, Burmese young adults, mainly from the Karen ethnic group, receive education, resources, and hear the Good News of Jesus. These initiatives are not just about education and training but about restoring hope and dignity to those in need. Those they serve all find a new beginning and hope for the future.

Please consider giving generously to this year's WMO.   Our campaign begins on September 21st and ends on October 19th.  Our goal is to raise $3,600.   You can also accept our challenge to forgo a Sunday meal with family and friends on October 12th and instead leave what you would have spent on lunch when you pick up your brown bag lunch.  If you can't skip lunch, give it anyway.  All you will miss is peanut butter and jelly or turkey and cheese, but you will gain the joy of knowing you've contributed to God's work and made a difference in someone's life.
