Happy New Year

Happy 2026! Another new year is upon us! With the new year comes new goals, organization, and plans for the next twelve months.

I don't know if I necessarily consider myself one who makes resolutions. However, I do typically start the year with so many goals that they just become unattainable. I always think this is going to be the year that I eat healthier, drink the recommended amount of water (and less coffee and Diet Coke!), get better sleep, organize my house, have more fulfilling prayer time, and the list goes on and on. These aren't necessarily bad goals, just a lofty amount of goals to reach in a short time.

As 2025 ended I thought about what I wanted 2026 to look like for myself and my family. And I felt those old feelings of seeking perfection creeping in. At times I find myself feeling that if I strive for perfection, then I am pleasing to God. That when I am completing all of these tasks and checking off every box, that I can finally feel accomplished.

It was when I was feeling like this that I realized that God loves me just the way I am today. Even if I don't change my diet, stay up late every night, and don't read a single page of my bible this year, He will still love me. I will never be able to do enough good things or achieve a certain number of goals to ever repay the sacrifice that God made for me. What he wants from me is a relationship with him. He wants me to seek him every day for comfort, rest, and guidance.

So, I decided to give myself some grace this year, since the ultimate grace giver provides me with forgiveness every day. I still want to strive to live a better, healthier life because I will feel better if I do and it will allow me to better serve the Lord. But my ultimate goal for 2026 is to seek God more.

I hope that you will join me this year in seeking God more. If your goals include attending church more often or finding a home church, I urge you to join us every Sunday morning at 10:00. Maybe you want to read and study your bible more this year. If you are unsure of where to start, join us for the Red Letter Challenge, a 40 day campaign to read the words of Jesus and follow them. More information is available on our website.

Happy New Year! May this year be full of health, happiness, and a closer walk with Jesus.
